We're about 3 1/2 weeks away from leaving now! Kendra realized this in the middle of a baseball game; she leaned over and said, "Oh my God." It was really entertaining. I'm just hoping she doesn't freak out on the plane :)
I kind of started packing this weekend, which included buying space bags and bubble wrap. I got halfway through packing a box of picture frames and realized that if I bring 10, that's not so bad, but if Kendra also brings 10...
At that point we decided that we should pack together so we don't run the risk of having double of everything. I didn't get very far after that.
I realized today that it's going to be strange to not be near I-5. That freeway connects the entire west coast, where I've lived for 23 years, and now it will be 3000 miles away. I'm also going to miss driving to LA on a Tuesday just to pay $10 to see Butch or Jim or Cary and then diving home at 1 am only to go to work the next morning. Now it will just be a matter of taking a cab home; so much easier, but I'll still miss it.
Only 24 more days.

Moving to a new life
This is it. We're actually doing it. Two best friends are leaving sunny San Diego and moving to the greatest city in the world, New York. After being out of college for a year, and having more and more of our other friends leaving as well, it was time for a change. At first I don't think either of us were 100% sure it was going to happen, but the more we talked about it, the more excited we got. And when everyone else got excited, we knew it was a good idea.
So we're off on July 23rd: red-eye to JFK, arriving at about 5 am (Kendra is not a morning person, so it'll be fun). We have a place to stay for a while, courtesy of some fabulous relatives, and even a few friends to catch up with when we get there. As far as jobs go? That's still in the works...
We don't know how long we'll be gone, if we'll eventually become New Yorkers, or if we realize California really is the place to be, but we are ready to find out! Even though it's just the two of us for now, we hope you will keep updated on all our East Coast adventures.
Only 34 more days in the West!
